Virtual classrooms for home inspection training are great because you can learn on your own time and in the comfort of your own home. These courses teach you what you need to know and are convenient.
But home inspecting is hands-on work. You can learn to cook or throw a baseball online too, but it’s much easier if you have a live person there with you to teach you the specific techniques and to offer an insider’s perspective. Now, through ICA, you can attend field training to help you master the job of a home inspector.
Open to Course Graduates
Once you have completed and passed our online course, you will be eligible to sign up for field training sessions at $60 each. During the session, you will be paired with an experienced home inspector and will ride along with them on their inspections for that day.
You’ll get to see firsthand exactly how an inspection is done, what is and isn’t included in an inspection, how the reports are written up and how to deal with clients.
We are offering field training sessions in the following locations:

How often do you hear about someone going “away” to training? Why is training so often undertaken away from where you do your actual job?
With field home inspection training, you will train in a real house with certified inspectors doing their actual jobs. It’s not a simulation. You’re not just watching; you’re participating. You can see what’s broken, worn or missing in a real-life setting.
This type of learning experience allows you to retain information in a way that you can’t with online or classroom learning.
Field Training Is a Proven Teaching Tool
Field training is standard practice in professions such as law enforcement and sales. Some things are just easier to learn how to do by watching. And observing a home inspection firsthand as you also have the opportunity to take part and ask questions while having an invaluable experience.
Because every home is different, no two home inspections are alike. Thus, you can never know exactly what you will find when you arrive at a job. But this just adds to the dynamic nature of the business, and it’s likely one of the reasons you wanted to become a home inspector in the first place — because of the new challenges you will face each day.
Field training will prepare you for the unknown. It will show you what to do when you don’t know what to do. And that’s the type of experience that builds confidence. When you go out on your first home inspection job, it won’t really be your first if you attended one or more field training sessions.
