How to Become a Licensed Home Inspector in Virginia
The Virginia Home Inspection Board requires all professional home inspectors to receive 70 hours of training. ICA Virginia Home Inspection Course Details
The ICA Virginia home inspection course consists of our online course and 4 days of classroom training.
All ICA graduates receive a free one-month membership to InterNACHI and can complete the 25 ride-along inspections by connecting with experienced InterNACHI members who are already licensed. The ride along inspections can also be completed with any licensed home inspector of your own choosing.

After completing classroom training, aspiring home inspectors must pass the National Home Inspectors Exam. With our recommended exam preparation, the NHIE is easily passable. Upon passing, aspiring home inspectors must then perform 25 ride-along inspections with a certified home inspector. Most new inspectors get paid for this work as on-the-job-training.
Inspection Certification Associates’ Virginia Home Inspector Classroom and Field Training has been approved by Virginia’s Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) to provide the required classroom training for Virginia home inspector applicants. We offer two home inspection courses that meet Virginia’s training requirements, one of which is eight days of classroom training that runs from Saturday to Saturday. ICA’s other option for Virginia home inspection training is a hybrid course that includes four days of classroom training from Thursday through Sunday. Under this option, students complete the balance of their training through our online training and certification program. Tuition for either option is $1,395.
