4 Steps to Becoming a Home Inspector in Nevada
- Complete our enrollment process and take the state-approved, 60-hour Nevada Structural Inspection Pre-License Course as a Live Webinar or Classroom Course through PDH Academy. PDH is an expert provider of professional development hours for home inspectors, contractors and construction supervisors. This course is designed for new inspectors and will allow you to apply as a Nevada Certified Master Inspector when you have completed the inspection log for Certified Master Inspectors.
- Take the Nevada Original Inspector of Structures Exam. The ICA Online Home Inspector Certification Program delivers the knowledge you need to pass this Nevada specific exam.
- Observe 25 inspections with a licensed inspector: Observe at least 25 ride-along inspections with a licensed home inspector. Most new inspectors get paid for this work as on-the-job-training.
- Congratulations! Now you can start your own business or work as a home inspector. Your two-year renewal of an Inspector of Structures certificate must include 20 hours of approved continuing education (three hours of safety, two hours of 645D Nevada law and 15 hours in general inspector courses).

Nevada Cancellation and Refund Policy
Three-Day Cancellation: An applicant who provides written notice of cancellation within three days (excluding Saturday, Sunday and federal and state holidays) of signing an enrollment agreement and prior to beginning the program is entitled to a refund of all monies paid. Written notice can be emailed to support@pdhacademy.com. No later than 15 days of receiving the notice of cancellation, the school shall provide the 100% refund.
Process for Cancellation: Students can locate an Enrollment Cancellation Form by clicking this link. This form can be submitted by email at support@pdhacademy.com. PDH Academy will return any monies paid by the student within 15 days of the request to cancel. Any funds paid by a third party on behalf of the student will be returned to the payee. Students who cancel after the three-day cancellation period are subject to the institutions refund policy.
Refunds will be issued within 15 days of the date of student notification, or date of school determination (withdrawn due to absence or other criteria as specified in the school catalog), or in the case of a student not returning from an authorized Leave of Absence (LOA) within 15 days of the date the student was schedule to return from the LOA and did not return.
Other Cancellations: An applicant requesting cancellation more than three days after signing an enrollment agreement and making an initial payment, but prior to entering the program, is entitled to a refund of all monies paid. You can contact support@pdhacademy.com.
Non-attendance (No-Shows): Applicants who complete an Enrollment Agreement and make payment but fail to attend the assigned course are considered to have canceled their enrollment. In cases such as this, the institution shall refund all the money the applicant has paid, minus 10% of the amount paid, or $150, whichever is less.

PDH Home Inspection Certification FAQ
- Will I receive a certification?
Yes, we email you a copy of your National Certification of Home Inspector certificate. PDH graduates also receive a digital certification badge for use on business materials and social media.
- What inspection report should I use?
PDH graduates receive Report Form Nitro software for free (a $400 value). This user-friendly report can be printed, filled out by hand, or completed on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. A mobile app version is also available.
- Is there a time limit to complete the online course?
No. You can complete the course at your own pace.
- Will I receive a list of necessary tools?
Yes. We provide a full list of required tools, including a moisture meter and combustible gas detector—all for approximately $200.

- Do I need to be a home builder to become a home inspector?
No. Our training prepares students from all backgrounds to become successful home inspectors. - Does a home inspector need to get on the roof of the home?
No. Home inspectors should not go on the roof of the home. Per current standards of practice, the proper way to inspect a roof is to stand back and use binoculars. A few home inspectors have even started using small drones to inspect a roof, but that is not very common yet. Over ninety percent of home inspectors use the binocular technique for inspecting the roof of a home. - Does PDH offer discounts for military service members?
