It is a very straightforward process to become a licensed home inspector in Oregon. Oregon operates on an “experience points” system. You must have or obtain 20 experience points. In the past, only 10 of those points could come from education. However, due to recent rule changes, all 20 points can come from education. Here is the good news. Inspection Certification Associates is fully approved by the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB), so our course will get you all twenty points!

Once you complete our course to receive your 20 points, you just need to take and pass the National Home Inspector Exam. Our course fully prepares you for that exam.  The Oregon CCB used to have their own state home inspection exam for new home inspectors, but in late 2015, they switched to requiring the National Home Inspector Exam instead.

Steps to become a home inspector in Oregon:

  1. Register for the ICA Real Estate Inspection Certification Program. This course will provide you with 20 points.  Upon completion of the online home inspection training course, you will be an ICA Certified Home Inspector and we will issue you a certification number, which you can use on your business cards and home inspection reports.
  2. Take and pass the National Home Inspector Exam for Oregon.
  3. Start your own home inspection business or go to work for an existing home inspection company!
