Currently home inspectors in Ohio can inspect residential and commercial properties without a license. All home inspectors should be aware that the Ohio Department of Commerce is planning on regulating the home inspectors with a formal licensing system beginning July 1st of 2020. With the online home inspection training and certification from ICA you will be able to start inspecting now.

Here are the steps to get you started inspecting in Ohio right away:

Step 1. Complete the ICA home inspection training course. We will provide you with all the training and information you need to successfully perform home inspections in the state of Ohio.

Step 2. Start your own home inspection business or begin working for another inspection company.

Important Update. The newly formed Ohio Home Inspector Board has set a launch date for their new licensing program to July 1st of 2020.  The tentative requirements to obtain this license will require new inspectors to pass an 80 hour home inspection course, pass the National Home Inspectors Exam, and complete ten parallel inspections. To complete parallel inspections, ICA graduates are able to connect with mentors through the free one month membership we provide to all graduates to the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI). Our support staff is also here to help you achieve these goals every step of the way!

In order to prepare Ohio home inspectors to take and pass the National Home Inspectors Exam, we include a 200 page online study guide and 700 practice questions specific to the National Home Inspectors Exam. This test can be taken any day of the week in the following Ohio cities: Akron, Cambridge, Cincinnati, Middleburg Heights, Dublin, Groveport, Elyria, Hamilton, Ravenna, Maumee, Troy, and Wadworth.

Students who take the ICA home inspection course can begin inspecting immediately and be ahead of the curve when licensing is finally implemented.

In states that have licensing for home inspectors, real estate agents and your clients just want to see that you are licensed. In states that do not have licensing, real estate agents and your clients want to see that you have been trained and certified in home inspection. That’s where our program can help.

Additionally, Ohio real estate agents like to see that a home inspector is a member of InterNACHI.  That’s why we provide all of our Ohio home inspection graduates a free one-month membership to InterNACHI.
