How do I become a home inspector in Nevada?

First complete the PDH Academy 7-day Structural Inspection Pre-License Course as a live webinar class. Next, you will pass the Nevada Inspector of Structures Exam.  Your last requirement is to observe 25 inspections by a Nevada recognized certified inspector.  You can then start your own business or seek employment as an inspector.

How much can I earn per inspection?

The typical home inspection fee ranges between $350-$400 for an average-sized home. You can add additional fees for ancillary services in addition to the standard home inspection report.

Is PDH Academy’s Nevada Home Inspector Training affiliated with ASHI?

Yes. PDH Academy’s sister company, ICA, is a longtime affiliate of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). Our lead instructor Steve Preins was awarded the ASHI Presidents Award in 2002.

Is the PDH Nevada home inspection training course recognized by InterNACHI?

Yes. PDH Academy’s sister company, ICA, is a partner school of the International Association of Home Inspectors (InterNACHI). All graduates will be provided with an optional free one-month membership to the association.

Where do I take my state test for home inspection in Nevada?

The NV Inspector of Structures Exam can be taken in Elko, Las Vegas, or Reno. Our graduates are fully prepared to pass the Nevada exam for home inspectors.

What are the Nevada Inspector of Structures (IOS) Continuing education requirements?

The two-year renewal of an Inspector of Structures certificate must include 20 hours of approved continuing education (three hours of safety, two hours of 645D Nevada law, and 15 hours in general inspector courses).

Does this course certify me in mold in spection and radon inspection??

We include our mold and radon introductory bonus courses free of charge to students who enroll in our online home inspection course. We also offer mold and radon certification courses. Through our partnership with ECAN, LLC, we offer a Mold Assessment Technician certification course, and a 16-Hour Radon Measurement Technician certification course. This course is also approved by the National Radon Proficiency Program (AARST-NRPP) or National Radon Safety Board (NRSB).

How do I create home inspection reports for my clients?

We have an arrangement with www.homeinspectionform.com in which our graduates receive a free copy of their Report Form Pro Nitro home inspection reporting software. Report Form Pro Nitro will allow you to create and deliver a complete PDF report from start to finish on your own smartphone or tablet.

Why is the PDH Academy Inspector of Structures (IOS) course 60 hours when the minimum is only 40 hours?

To give our students the best opportunity for success, we are offering our Master 60-hour course for all new inspectors looking to earn the entry-level Inspector of Structures certificate. This is the best course for new inspectors and will allow you to apply as a Nevada Certified Master Inspector when you have completed the inspection log for Certified Master Inspectors.

Do you provide a list of tools required for the job?

Yes. We provide you with a list of tools needed. The total cost of the tools, including your moisture meter and combustible gas detector, comes out to about $200. You probably already have most of the tools in your own garage.

How will the Nevada Home Inspector classes be presented?

Each class will be a live Zoom virtual course where you and your instructor will be able to interact. You and the other students will learn all about the inspection process. Every student will also be provided unlimited access to our online self-paced course as a resource so you can access it anytime you need.

Do you mail my certificate to the Board?

We provide all graduates with their certificate of completion and it is the students’ responsibility to send a copy of their certificate to the Board.

Do I need to have construction experience to become an inspector?

Construction experience is not required to earn your inspector of structures license in Nevada. It is helpful to have knowledge of the trades and how homes are built, however, we will train you on everything from the ground up, in an easy-to-follow format.
