Alabama Home Inspection Online Continuing Education Courses

Alabama home inspectors are required to complete 15 hours of continuing education every year. ICA Offers all 15 hours through online, self-paced CE Courses in the table below.

Applicant shall present proof of the following:

(1) Completion of 15 hours of approved continuing education per year. Licensees must RETAIN proof of this requirement

for three years. The DCM will RANDOMLY audit licensees for proof that continuing education was completed. (Students will get a certificate listing completed hours upon passing each AL Home Inspector CE course)

(2) For Alabama Home Inspector renewals, 15 hours of continuing education are required.

To complete our online courses, follow these simple steps:

  1. Purchase the courses that you would like complete.
  2. Log in to your online course portal, and complete your courses at your own pace. You may start and stop the courses as often as you’d like–your progress will be saved.
  3. Pass the course quizzes. Don’t worry–you can take the quizzes as often as needed.
  4. Download your certificate of completion for your records.

No. Once you complete a course, you will report your hours to the Alabama Department of Finance/Division of Construction Management when you are ready to renew your license.

Home Inspector Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is education specific to the process by which an inspector visually examines the readily accessible systems and components of a home and which describes those systems and components in accordance with Standards of Practice. In Alabama, the required 15 hours of CPE must be completed through a board approved provider such as ICA.
