Previous Scholarship Recipients
Warren Walker III, Louisiana
Congrats to our August 2023 scholarship recipient! After 12 years of service in the Louisiana Army National Guard and countless other careers, Warren was able to purchase a home in 2020. After experiencing the 2021 hurricane IDA in New Orleans, he realized having the knowledge of a home inspector would have placed him and his family in a better position. It has been a difficult ongoing battle with the mortgage company, and inspections during the last 2 years. Warren knows this profession is a good fit for himself, so he can continue to work and help others in this position.
Dustin Lewis, Maine
Our scholarship recipient for July is Dustin Lewis!
Dustin lives on the Midcoast of Maine, and currently works as a self-employed handyman. He has been passionate about construction from a young age, since he worked at his family’s companies both framing and remodeling homes. Later he undertook remodeling as a full-time career, working on shipwright-built 19th century homes near the harbor in Baltimore, Maryland.
After an injury in the mid-2000s, he began looking for a less physically strenuous career, and he believes that home inspection will allow him to work for many more years. He feels strongly about helping homeowners and potential homebuyers, to make sure that their living space is safe. As an person with Asperger’s syndrome, he has a keen attention to detail and a strong sense of curiosity that will serve him well in his new career as a home inspector!
John Hutchinson III, Georgia
We are delighted to announce our June 2023 scholarship winner, John Hutchinson III. After departing the US Navy in 2018, he pursued a teaching degree and coached football, however these endeavors were disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic, leading him to a search for a new path. During this time John’s family welcomed a baby girl with his wife, who is an active reservist in the Air Force Reserves.
After a personal experience with a subpar home inspection, John imagined a new path as a home inspector, in order to prevent others in his community from facing similar situations. His goal is not just to build a career, but to provide a valuable service to his town, offer stability for his family, and become a role model for his daughter.
We are proud to support John’s journey and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will make in his community as a licensed home inspector!

With limited time for advancement, he’s always had an itch to be his own boss and set his own limits.
Chase Haverson, North Carolina
Congratulations to Chase Haverson, our scholarship recipient for February 2023!
Chase always had the dream of being his own boss, and like many, he wants to enjoy his work in addition to finding success. He is delighted to be a full scholarship recipient, which will allow him to focus on his studies as he joins ICA’s in-person training later this year.
Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors through hiking, being on/in the water, finding new scenic sites, and good restaurants in North Carolina.
