North Carolina Continuing Education Courses

North Carolina requires 12 hours of continuing education every year to renew your home inspector license. 4 of these hours must be the Mandatory NCHILB Update Course. The Mandatory Update Course must be attended as a live class or live webinar. NC Licensed Home Inspectors must attain Continuing Education (CE) annually by September 10, except for those licensed after June 1st through September 30th of the current license period.  The online courses listed below are all approved by the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board.

Please note that the same elective continuing education course may be taken only once for continuing education credit during any three year period. A licensee may carry over up to eight elective credit hours per year until the next year.  It is our goal to offer the training in a format that will work with your schedule.

Returning Continuing Education Students

Follow these simple steps:

1. Select the live class or live webinar session you would like to attend. If you select a 12-hour live class, this will cover all 12 hours of continuing education required, including the 4-hour mandatory NCHILB update course.
2. If you select a 4-hour live webinar course, you will need to also select 8 hours of online elective courses. Upon enrollment, you will have immediate access to the online elective courses, and those courses can be completed 100% at your own pace.
3. Once you complete your course, our Customer Service team reports your completed hours directly to the NCHILB.
